Organization Profile

The Rotary Club of Greenville brought to Greenville for 30+ years Roper Mountain Holiday Lights. Last year we pivoted to a new fundraiser, Kringle Holiday Village. We successfully met our goals of providing our community with a great Holiday Tradition, raised funds for all the many endeavors of our club and raise awareness of Rotary in our community. Our primary focus is the lowest per capita income school in Greenville County, Alexander Elementary School. Funding to Alexander Elementary goes to: • Purchase new shoes for students in desperate need • Provide family meal boxes over the holidays • Purchase new uniforms • Stock a food pantry for the food insecure • Schedule volunteers to read to students • Arrange for chaperones for field trips • Provide books for the library • Support teachers through teacher appreciation lunches and activities Funds also support: • Greenville County’s Teacher of the Year recognition luncheon and cash awards to the finalists • Law Day, which recognizes our City Police, County Sheriff, and Federal Law Enforcement Officers • Career Day which exposes high school juniors to the numerous career fields represented throughout the Rotary Club of Greenville • Veteran Mentors who connect with veterans who are transitioning from military to civilian life • Volunteers who mentor those who are learning English as a second language • Water Projects in Honduras which provide clean drinking water to thousands • Goat ownership in Haiti which provides a sustainable living for families • Service Above Self Scholarship awarded every year to a Greenville County High School senior • - Four-year $5,000 scholarship for a total of $20,000 • - Scholar commits to 100 hours of community service each year they are attending college
